RELIEF DAT File Generator — Summary List of Sales & Purchases
A RELIEF DAT file is the electronic Summary List of Sales and Purchases (SLSP) that VAT-registered taxpayers submit for cross-matching against their trading partners’ own filings. BIR Online Tools generates it free, entirely in your browser — nothing uploads to a server for the conversion itself.
What is RELIEF SLSP? #
RELIEF stands for Reconciliation of Listings for Enforcement — the BIR program that matches what you report as purchases against what your suppliers report as sales, and vice versa. A mismatch between your SLSP and a counterparty’s own filing is a common trigger for a BIR inquiry, which is why the file’s TIN accuracy and quarter-over-quarter consistency matter as much as hitting the deadline.
| Module | Reports |
|---|---|
| Sales | Quarterly sales to regular and casual buyers, including output tax |
| Purchases | Quarterly local purchases and input tax from suppliers |
| Importations | Quarterly importations — dutiable value, landed cost, and VAT paid |
How the DAT file is structured #
Each RELIEF DAT file BIR Online Tools generates has a header record with the filer’s TIN, branch code, and return period; one detail record per counterparty (supplier or customer) with TIN, amount, and VAT; and a control record totaling the file so the numbers can be checked against your VAT return before submission.
How to generate a RELIEF DAT file #
- Set up your company profile once so your TIN and branch code pre-fill Sales, Purchases, and Importations alike.
- Enter your sales, purchases, or importation rows — supplier or customer TIN, amount, and VAT — directly or from a spreadsheet.
- Review the validation preview for TIN format and amount errors before the file is generated.
- Download the DAT file, then validate it with the official BIR Validation Module before eSubmission.
